For more than 30 years, car crashes have been the leading cause of death of teens. This year Hello Grief, Comfort Zone Camp and State Farm have brought you several stories that focus on driver safety.
As part of our support for the Celebrate My Drive program, we wanted to let you know about an opportunity that teens have to bring an American Idol winner to their school.
State Farm is teaming up with Idol and Grammy Award winner Kelly Clarkson to offer teens across the U.S. and Canada the opportunity to learn more about safe driving, win grant money for their school and be one of two schools to win a free concert from Kelly.
In a State Farm news release, Kelly said that Celebrate My Drive “gives me the platform to engage with my fans in a unique way, and a I look forward to working alongside State Farm to make a difference.”
State Farm’s Vice President of External Relations for State Farm said that music is a perfect way to reach teens.
“As a leader in auto safety, we feel this is a positive way to help educate youth and their parents about teen drive safety.”
More than 1,500 schools have registered to be a part of the celebration. Teens who want their school to register and enter for the Kelly Clarkson concern should ask a school administrator to visit www.celebratemydrive.com by Oct. 17.
National Teen Driver Safety Week is Oct. 20-26, 2013.
